What do you think is the key to success? Maybe there are thousands of answers to this question. Such as hard-working, education, opportunities etc. However, it is undeniable that time management is a very important factor to success, in my opinion.
Time is the great treasure to everyone. However, most of us undervalued it and waste much time to watch TV, go shopping or even in a daze. How I wish we can make full use of those hours! In this way, I think David Allen has the same idea with me. To some degree, his famous GTD theory talks most about time management. Doing well in time management means get the double results and get closer to success. GTD means Getting Things Done by the following steps:
- Empty your brain. If there is too much stuff in your brain, it is hard for you to concentrate on anything, even take a relaxed breath. As a result, empty your brain is the first step to release your pressure and the beginning of time management. Just as Tai Ji culture in china, you should forget all the complicated things at first and choose an easiest way to solve problems.
- Filter useless stuff and put the left in your basket. Usually, there are many meaningless things filled in our brain. Filter them and make more “room for other tasks. And then write them done in your basket in case you forget.
- Make a list of your tasks. There is no need to waste time in worrying about what to do every day. After open your eyes in the morning, you know today’s tasks clearly in mind. Since the list shows the start time and deadline of each task, your life can be well-organized as long as you complete them on time. And you will say goodbye to that chaotic life forever.
- Complete those can be finished in two minutes. If not, they might be the burden of tomorrow. Or, it is long time later when you remember again. Such as take a phone call to mom, return books to library and so on.
- Track the progress of others. If you can’t finish a task immediately, please track the progress of it. Such as read a book. It is a good way to remind you to keep it on. Besides, you can assign the start time of next action.
- Check them carefully. To check these tasks in time instead of revising them in the future saves much time for you to complete other tasks without distraction. Well, checking our work carefully was urged by our teachers and parents from childhood. I think you can know its importance.
After that, you can finish your tasks on time, and never miss important meetings or appointment with girls. And you can easily get colleagues’ respect and boss’s trust, which is amazing!
Sometimes one’s energy is limited; after all, not each person has a secretary to remind you the schedules every day. So, most people choose time management software programs to be that nice and private “secretary. And you can click here to get a free one: /pim/.
